Comment on "Inside The Lab" by editor Dave

I had no inspiration. I just started building. I knew it must be an industrial map because I wanted to try out something new. Then I placed the first few brushes. After a while (when I placed the planets and the robots) I noticed that the map would be some kind of museum. After adding the tables with the laptops, it was obvious that it must be a research laboratory. I had already placed the two neon tubes with the Skaarj inside at that time and so I thought that it would be great to make the lab's workers research the often disregarded BIO sludge.

When the contest started I decided not to participate until I have finished my final exams. So five weeks had to be cut out. Initially, I only wanted to build a map in six hours but thanks to the extension of the deadline I got enough time to make at least one good-looking room. So there were three weeks left. I wanted to do a short rest, in which I did not map anything. Then I started on June 5th, 9:31 am and I presented after mapping six hours (which was divided in two times three hours).
But then something pretty unexpected was awaiting me that swallowed another week. Then I mapped as long as I had motivation. On the final date I mapped the whole day until the disposal (and I even delayed about one hour!).

It was not very difficult for me to stick to the rules since in my other mapping projects I'm used to keep custom content to a minimum, apart from music. It is interesting what you can create without custom textures and meshes. And my room doesn't really look like Unreal, does it?

I did not learn something new about mapping but I could consolidate my sense in using the right textures.

Looking at the time (more than 20 hours) it might seem unreal that I could only build one room but I'm satisfied that I could contribute something this time.
But there are two problems about the map: First, it is too huge and second, it doesn't really have exciting gameplay... It is fun occasionally but definitely no milestone.
I promise, my next work will blow you away!
